update 16-Dec-2010:
i couldn’t find the aria in french on youtube (for very obvious reason after i attempted to upload the aria), so here’s the 3rd attempt. it’s an absolutely great recording all around and worth buying. click on CC to see the subtitles which i managed to put in. unfortunately the video is blocked in germany.

the text is quite different than the italian version (with subtitles) (again thanks Smorgy).

    this is my 5th time listening to this (1st since a while ago..), am liking the music more and more. must be inability first few times to tune my brain to listen to bel-canto in french…

    update 21h40 est: ok, MUST find her “o mon fernand” on youtube. amazing!! sounds much better in french, fits the music very well. love love the orchestra, the choir, the music, ramon vargas also…
