kinky boots

i must be blind. little sister sent this with message “you’ll like it!”

6+ millions viewers, got to be something good!
so i finished watching, totally confused, why 2 turtles traveled to Paris?? looks like the butchy turtle wanted to femme up (recently learned vocab here) and headed to Paris for some touch up and kinky boots**. then the typical straight couple ending! vhat the heck? vhy sister sending me a clip with 2 straight turtles?? i confused!

a bit later, little sister checked in: “you saw the 2 gay turtles ??”
huh?? which gay turtles?? See if you catch it or missed the entire thing like me. full explanation is below (highlight to see).

you saw the 2 gay turtles ??
so the cross dressing one crossed the gay turtle’s path
turtle fell in love and waited for the cross dresser
crosss dresser got to Paris
wore kinky boots and hair
happy
then vacation over
went back to village, sad and dishearted
but found gay turtle waiting for him
so they lived happily ever after in village
you like

and explanation about why i see 2 turtles going to Paris?

no
it;s the refrain
little manuellita where are you going
gooing away to paris so far

So, it’s cross-dressing turtle hooking up with gay turtle, how cute.
** and that’s actually quite a fun movie to watch, also gift from little sister.

  1. I actually had a serious question, for a change. Are you out to your entire family? How do they behave? I’m out only to my sisters, and they’d rather we permanently shut up about it, so it’s almost like I’m not out to them either. What “helps” is that none of my biological family is here in my adopted home.

So here I am, in a country where the same-sex marriage is legal and queer rights in their, what, third generation, struggling with the earliest, most pre-historical of all queer problems. We are all differently timed queers.

    1. haven’t u read my book? :p

yes, i did, way back some 15 years ago. it wasn’t pretty, and i was also pretty much told by parents to keep it a family secret (was told among other things a story of how 1 guy told his best friend that he killed someone, and his best friend turned him in…) all siblings are ok. little sister even takes part in gf-recommendations from time to time :-D. i haven’t quite gotten to the point of inviting older siblings out to gay parades yet but they all voted NO on prop-8 (and so did all in-laws sisters and bros as well). did come out to all 30+ cousins in 2008 when i asked them to vote “no” on that terrible prop-8 thing. i also had a chance to be out to the entire vietnamese community when the most-read newspaper ran a series interviewing vietnamese queers the last 2 years. I was always afraid that my knowledge of queer politics is just too terrible (and so is my verbal skill) that I could give us a negative image by saying something very wrong. in hindsight, wish i did and and at least made my ph.d. to good use because the view within the community is of course that queers are terrible people who don’t accomplish anything (among other bad assumptions).

actually there was a discussion about coming out over at Anik’s place last year, again during of one the fabulous friday-night-conversation sections.

have u thought of just sending your family a letter :-). It seems that some people can just bring their gf friend home and introduce, and voila! I (and little sister) once translated a couple of guidelines on “coming out” and during that process i realized i did just about everything they recommended NOT to do 😀 . it’s one of those funny things where way after, u always wonder why it was such a big deal (little sister called it child stuff), but yet when not out, one is soo afraid like the end of the world would come. I never quite understand, except i was just very glad whatever courage i dug up 15 years ago allowed me to just unleashed it. life changed quite drastically for the better afterward 🙂 .

    2. I’m so glad! Not a small amount of courage must have been required. It’s admirable.

I did consider the letter (apparently Jane Lynch came out to her parents in a letter, when she was past 30!) but I’ve decided against. For now. Meanwhile, I published a short story in which I exercise (exorcise?) the worst possible scenario, my greatest coming-out nightmare… But in English, of course. I’m sure there will be tons of writing material until and after I ‘come out’. So I guess that’s one good thing about this maddening conflict.

    3. oh? can you point us to the stories?
i think it’s nice to reach a point in life where one can sit calmly and sort out: what conflicts do i have in life? what can i do?
having family and relatives next to you funnily can get you unintentionally come out quicker. the constant questions of bf and getting married surely can get on your nerve. I haven’t quite snapped yet but the older relatives have been going at it with me in the past whenever I saw them at various cousins’ weddings. last time i was calm enough to say “i don’t need a bf”, but i think the next round will be: “oh, i’ll need to move to another state to get married because surely you voted in 2008 to take away my right to marry?” and “oh, not him, but does he have a sister?”

  2. “Not him, but does he have a sister” is an excellent one. A somewhat different version here.

    OT, but whoof, what pictures:

  3. ho..l..l..y.. s..m..o.k.e..
where did your comment go? i was in such a haste to press _something_ after that interview pops up on my screen….

edit; here, got it back! you will have to excuse me if I _ignore_ your link for a moment while i staring at that incomprehensible interview… Do i have to type that whole thing out in order to pipe it through google translator??

    1. No, if you have Adobe Reader, just open it in Adobe Reader and copy the text, then transfer it to Word or whathaveyou.

  4. Darling, do go to your comment settings and allow people to post more than two links per comment, for crying out loud & very operatically!

    1. wahhat? where? how?
so, have to settle for AH gorgeous pix on desktop while i debuggin code and meeting w/ colleagues. will sort out both cool short story (“heimat, mutter”, does that mean something in a different language than english?) and spanish later in the evening…

    2. Ah sorry didn’t mean to inundate while you’re at work… I’m working mostly from home these days so I assume everybody can easily move between the many windows on the computer screen and is never interrupted with meeting requests.

But if anybody can translate from Spanish, promise them a CD reward for providing a few (or all!) highlights. Or something. I’m still looking for Swedish translators, and unsuccessfully.

The Word Press dashboard: look down to your left side, there should be a thing called Comments. Then you go there and you see Manage Comments or Comments Settings or something along those lines. Then you’ll see that the WP default is to disallow any post with 2 links because it’s expected to be spam. I changed mine to 10 links, see how understanding I am?
