schedule

while browsing the Bayerische Staatsoper ‘s site for something else, i just discovered this free online live streaming of Beethoven Fidelio this coming friday 8-July-2011:

live from Bayerische Staatsoper, 8-July-2011

This will be my first chance to watch Jonas Kaufmann in a full opera.  His previous version (audio) with Nina Stemme was superb.  And even more good news is that the live streaming is not conflicting with the fifa women’s world cup!  Anyhow, just putting the rest of the schedule here as well for my sake ( need a big map like this just to see who’s gonna play who when…)

The last days of group stage are this  tuesday/wednesday.  All 8 matches will be played to determine the 1/2 place of the group: (oh wow, this pasting function gives me some really fancy table…)

17 05/07 20:45 Moenchengladbach France France Germany Germany
18 05/07 20:45 Dresden Canada Canada Nigeria Nigeria
19 05/07 18:15 Augsburg England England Preview Japan Japan
20 05/07 18:15 Sinsheim New Zealand New Zealand Mexico Mexico
21 06/07 20:45 Wolfsburg Sweden Sweden USA USA
22 06/07 20:45 Bochum Korea DPR Korea DPR Colombia Colombia
23 06/07 18:00 Frankfurt/Main Equatorial Guinea Equatorial Guinea Brazil Brazil
24 06/07 18:00 Leverkusen Australia Australia Norway Norway

Lastly, anyone happens to know where i can see a replay of Brazil vs Norway? espn3 inexplicably took this match off, grrrr.

I’ve no idea where to find a replay, but there should at least be “best of” footage out there?

I hated that Marta had to foul a defender to get the chance to score that first goal, but the goal in itself was beautiful. FIve seconds, and you know why she won the International Player Award 5 years in a row. Wow.

…So what am I going to do today, with no game to watch?! Well, probably getting prepared to lose to a stupendous France tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip-off Dr. T. Don’t suppose they will do the same on 24th or 29th ??

wow, i almost screamed, but garefrekes was offside… nice run down the side… but into the goalie…

oh, Eyes, i think one live streaming is already very nice, i think each time requires lots of technical maneuverings.

but let me get back to the match… damn, another offside… noooo, garefrekes’ pass to Laudehr was onside, argh

hmm, i don’t like this parade of cards, that 3rd yellow and also red card to goalie doesn’t seem warranted. that’s what a goalie is supposed to do i thought (sweeping the ball with her feet), unless the referee thought she made a clear swipe after the ball has already passed… still, now the french goalie will miss next game as well, not good…

oh, and france scored another header, what is that german defense doing, not even marking anyone…

probably putting goal defense in front of marking defenders… all in all a good game, though I still would like more precision in the passes and more running speed from the Germans. Bajramaj did well on the running, but not so well on the sharing… The red for the goalie (in the close-up she went after the legs, not the ball) I found okay, but wouldn’t have given the 3rd French yellow. A formidable opponent, it didn’t feel like 10, but still like 11 after the red. Still no word on Behringer…

I should just come here for live commentary, it looks like much more fun than watching the games on my own 🙂
