vivalavoce highlights, Feb 2012

currently listening to:

fabbulous singing from Gruberova (unmistakeable) + Francisco Araiza (guessing to be the main tenor singing) and Agnes Baltsa (could have confused her voice with the other mezzo, am not that familiar yet with her voice to just recognize it). Also have no clue yet what it’s about… but fantastic music!

Actually i missed re-listening to Alcina which was on Feb 2… but some (re)broadcasts to listen in at 8PM EST. Here’s the whole list of their opera-at-8 program.

Dear Thà diêu, this is a very interesting link I did not know. The first is an absolute must being Donizetti’s view of the bloody English history of the Queens! and the last one, with your upload, is another absolute must. But I also appreciate La Juive with such a cast! So.. this is great!

hi Yvette and Eyes! actually the timing of opera-at-8 might be not convenient for you coz it’s 8PM EST :-). However, they’re rebroadcasting everything 1 month after at 3AM EST to accommodate listeners from other parts of the world. I was just looking at the list of the encore, there’s a couple by a Dutch mezzo, Cécile van de Sant, who I don’t know yet, but seems we should listen in. She’s singing Sesto (Feb 21) and Farnace (Feb 29) <– (!!) it's a leap year!! There's also Röschmann on Feb 26 in Handel's Giustino.

  3. I had not heard of this broadcast either – thank you!

I can vouch for the Giustino with Roschmann – I have the recording, and it’s a lot of fun. (I’m also curious about Mitridate, rè di Ponto on Feb 29, since I’ve never heard the whole thing and would like to).
