with loads of very nice full operas on YT, i’ve been keeping it busy… though mainly only as “background” music… for which reason, Berlioz’ “Les Troyens” with Antonacci didn’t quite cut it but Gounod’s “Faust” has been such a beautiful discovery! On the other hand, Berlioz’ “La Damnation de Faust” in English is realllllly hard for the ears… even though Marguerite was great. so, here’s music to start the weekend.

ps- while looking for VK’s facebook page to post up her recent exciting trip to sing in her home town, look what I accidentally ran into! What I wanted to link originally is of course this fabulous pix

concert in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, 20-Nov-2012, (c) unknown

„Не знам дали ще ми повярвате, но такива мигове за незабравими за мен. Аз съм видяла абсолютно всичко на този свят. На 39 станах камеризингер на Мюнхенската опера, на 42 – във Виенската опера. Имам куп медали и награди, дискографията ми бе номинирана за Грами. Но уверявам ви, тези награди не струват нищо пред това, което преживях снощи на старозагорска сцена”, каза развълнуваната Веселина.

as copied from here. (interesting that her fan page on fb is not visible, but at same time one finds many others). When i find the proper credit for that fabulous photo above, will add credit accordingly… anyhow, thanks to Smorgy for alerting us to the buzzing news.)

Edit: many thanks to Al who first sent me the clip, then provided the translation. Here it is, her interview from Brussels. hit “cc” for english subtitles.

while we sit tight waiting for that AIDS-benefit concert to somehow miraculously arrive on yt, more fantastic links as i just done digesting swan lake… onto nutcracker… i know, sounds pretty pretty typical, heading for the most popular, but why not there are SEVERAL full versions! meanwhile, just realized i missed a live broadcast today from bayerische staatsoper, argh.

Here is an other link from an exclusive interview for TV Stara Zagora – indeed VK sang in November at an event consacrated to her home town in the European Parliament

oh? could you? thanks! you could either translate it here or on FB perhaps ? i intend to capture it and perhaps put it up on YT eventually, and will paste your translation with appropriate credit there as well.

          • Al says:

Yes – I will do it as soon as I can (this week end!)

finally have a chance to sit through the whole clip while i capture (unlisted at the moment.. am never sure about these copyrights thingy..). may i say i loooove the pianist too!! (Boryana Lambreva, as i learned from FB). Piano accompanying VK’s voice sooo well in 1st aria. must admit i don’t know enough the detail of Kalimanku denku to enjoy the subtle detail in the piano playing…

Dear T, the translation is ready. I would prefer to send it to you privately, as you may have some questions and English is not my mother tongue…

            See you soon:)

many thanks again Al, it’s always nice to be able to understand what she says, as most of her interviews are quite insightful. I put the translation in already to the clip I uploaded, hit “cc” . I also learned some bulgarian along the way 🙂 .
ps- since i was tracking the time to put up the subtitles, may i also say the wink at 00:14:29 is absolutely adorable!
