monday music

oy, i actually woke up for a 9am class which i should have known about at the _beginning_ of semester… class was superb, and even more superb is this, yay

also, as i posted over at anik’s, there was a broadcast which i saw last week but missed, but can be re-listened to here. head over to Anik’s for looooovely photos + analysis of the performance.

ps- since the embedding is disabled, while you’re on that YT-ber’s channel, there’s also Anna Bonitatibus in that same concert… and of course we remember Bonitatibus and VK in _that_ other agrippina…

mmm, thank you! (that ups the mezzos for today to quintuple 😉 ) and yes, I suspect that none of us will ever be over THAT other Agrippina…

the whole thing is up, starting backward from the end, with everyone singing in english!
part2 also has interview with Anna Bonitatibus in english (though dubbed over with german, grr) . part1 starts with Sonia Prina…

      • Anik LaChev says:

thank you!!! – ah, off I hurry to download my Sunday evening program. 🙂 (If there’s anything in the dubbed Bonitatibus,I’ll report back)

        • thả diều says:

oh, on report back, perhaps you could tag along VK’s little interview all in german in part 1? 🙂

          • Anik LaChev says:

Bonitatibus gives the perhaps most eloquent and most succinct statement of all, simply saing that she’s excited to participate for two reasons, one, that she believes in the transforming social and humanitarian power of music and the arts, and two, that she’s making her first appearance in Berlin and that she’s very happy that it is for such a worthy cause.

…am finishing up the concert now, let me get back to you on VK in a few when I rewind.

          • Anik LaChev says:

VK (loosely paraphrased): I think many people are underestimating the illness these days, thinking that there are drugs, and that if they get infected, they will simply take the drugs, ‘heal it’ and live on as if nothgin happened… but that’s not the case, at all. Everyone’s immune system is different. And I think it’s not enough that we merely call attention to the virus… Us artists, we’re happy to help out. Personally, this is my second time in such an event and I’m very happy to be here again and to be allowed to help.”

my favorite acts of the evening were probably VK, Bonitatibus and Arancam (what a looker!), and I always enjoy Kermes rocking the house – though really, who invites all the male eye candy (Fabbiano, Breslik…) and the fabulous mezzo/contalto lore to these galas? Who is on that committee?! A+!!

      • Eyesometric says:

Ooooooo! VK singing in English in the finale 🙂
Thank you for the link and Anik for the translation. I will save this for enjoyment later.
