    – what on earth are they putting on Sarah Connolly??
    – wow, that’s how you wipe your shot glass, BRAVA, sandrine piau!!
    – i’d prefer if they don’t zoom in too much, instead should leave an overhead or far-view shot…
    – puppet show: would have been SUPERB to see the orchestra!!
    – yikes, the holy bible…
    – the Lord of Whiteshirter said it is not good that she must don an oversized blue pullover.
    – looove Sandrine Piau’s singing. her characterization is also very believable. as Tove mentioned on her site, the way they isolated her in corner of kitchen while everyone toasting offered a window into her fragil and vulnerable mind state.
    – another pupet show, LISTEN TO THE VIOLINS!! gosh i’d always station myself right above the orchestra for these.
    – *LOVE* the orchestra
    – to the lovely final duet. must be my improved headset, superb sound all around.
    – drum + horn + woodwinds + chorus, super like
    – tambourine to finale!!!! *must* export to ringtone right away.
    – wait a minute, she’s packing a suitcase to go somewhere to that tune! i should have followed the staging :-D. LOOVELY sound + singing though, will come back to listen again. methinks will listen at least few more times before attempting to watch, so as not to get distracted…

clearly, midnight-5am is the right time to listen to opera for me, not when just barely woken up after alarms… SUPERB singing in 1st Act, SUPERB orchestra!! even the story made sense, though i’ve only taken glances coz the zoom-in to singers’ faces is somehow very distracting…

      ps- there’re bagpipes? i must have missed…

Okay, there actually is a piper at the wedding ceilidh in Breaking the Waves, so I withdraw at least some of my snark.

you’ve just arrived for the pupet show! i’ve decided to skip looking so i can hear the music and singing better. methinks the zooming camera angles can be quite distracting… not to mention those puppets are a bit scary looking, wouldn’t want to see them walking around at night!

That last puppet was remarkable – like War Horse you forget about the puppeteers. Where is Tove’s site?

  6. I just discovered that it’s a COC co-prod, and that we should expect it in Toronto in fall 2016. Fingers crossed they don’t cast a countertenor in the title role…
