    awesome pajamas!

    • thả diều says:

pajamas? i was busy with legs :p . am not too impressed with the singing but staging looks intriguing. though to my disappointment the girl in pajama seems to be some metaphor instead of Marguerite switching team 😀

      • dehggial says:

I was wondering why the girl was there. Team switching: they could make Mephistopheles into a woman, that would be very interesting, I’m surprised nobody wrote the character that way!

I was also thinking the singing was a bit blah.

        • thả diều says:

When first saw, i was hoping the mezzo was Faust 😀 . Yes, i was drawn to interesting staging.

On entirely different note, i had a dream earlier today we were going to some musical event! but popped out of bed too quickly to fight proposal and forgot all the details! (and 2 weeks ago i also had dream of attending VK’s romeo again ❤ )

          • dehggial says:

            we? us you mean?

(you have way too many VK dreams…)

          • thả diều says:

yes, we, us! some early music thingy probably… normally if i don’t make a conscious (<– that word looks strange) effort to remember the split second before popping up i forget! (blame it on the navy, though if they pay me the next 5 years i'd be happy to forget this and cook up more dreams in the future 😀 )
(vk, romeo.. what can i say..)

          • dehggial says:

sounds about right 😉 next year?

          • thả diều says:

yes, let’s cook up something! am getting desperate after long hiatus of music here.. though can we please negotiate for more contralto/mezzo and less CT 😉

          • dehggial says:

of course more contralto/mezzo! must launch the contralto/mezzo net and see what is everyone good up to next year.

          • thả diều says:

let me help getting the conversation started…

            … 😀

          • thả diều says:

ps- i also saw on Ann Hallenberg’s fb site she’s going to give *three* recitals in Wigmore hall early next year!

          • dehggial says:

THREE! that’s what I like to hear 😀 Late April? Or March?

          • thả diều says:

oh man, you don’t have fb do you? can you still attempt google her name + fb , i think her site is visible to the outside world.. (i’d like to search but currently fighting internal waves 🙂 )

          • dehggial says:

            it’s visible yes.

            internal waves?

          • thả diều says:

oh? when is she singing? are they sandwiching il trionfo…? if so can i show up on the couch w/ excursions to italy? after my move (whenever the hell that is..) i’d like to find excuse to be away 🙂
internal waves, absolutely fascinating stuff.. i just recently learned about it, waves in the ocean, currently writing proposal asking for money to do research on it 🙂

          • dehggial says:

eh, I thought internal = inside you! and I was wondering if you were getting spiritual or something 😉

of course you can show up, don’t worry about that part.

          • thả diều says:

i know, i thought of getting a t-shirt on that! sounds so cool ey! “wrestling internal waves”

          • thả diều says:

ps- another t-shirt idea: “looking for a real signal” :), i’ll have to fill you in on the details, but i love the suggestive message

          • thả diều says:

            random update + filling in:
done editing the “easy one”, now taking my 5min ice cream break before tackling internal “feeling”.
“real signal”: it started one very late night a very good friend in next office coming over requesting help as he simply *lost* his real signal and now left with an imaginary one 😀 .

          • dehggial says:

I like the idea of imaginary feeling… I have quite a lot of those, haha.

          • thả diều says:

and more random news, if we travel to munich there’re now 2 very cute cats sharing the couch!

          • dehggial says:

must find something to see in munich now! 😀

          • thả diều says:

good morning :). i just saw some photos of them now roaming between balcony + garden via small constructed platforms my friend made! too cool. quite reminds me of vietnam

          • dehggial says:

when did he get the cats? at this rate he’ll build an entire cat fortress by next Spring 😉 worth visiting just for that!

          • thả diều says:

that place was a jungle once! 😀
they were super tiny kittens i think just 2 months ago.. or whenever that was i just came back from ship

          • dehggial says:

looking at your list of shows for next year, are those two Rosenkavaliers different productions?

          • thả diều says:

no, but i think i’d have much better chance catching her in germany than in Paris! the dates with her name there changes by the day! whereas in germany it remains.. and then there’s Sindham, who i am told is a *must* see 🙂

          • dehggial says:

DS: nice voice, I was impressed.

          • thả diều says:

            impressive suit-wearing skill 😉

          • dehggial says:

nice legs for that kind of thing! how about shorter hair, though?

          • thả diều says:

            i *compelled* update the link!!

          • dehggial says:

I see you’re busy working! 😀 I saw the Ariadne thing, that’s where I got my voice sample for her Strauss skills. Looks all right, voice much better (ie, I would pay to hear her).

          • thả diều says:

turbulent kinetic energy, that’s what i currently dissipating *admiring* der komposer! (have _not_ heard her sing!)

          • dehggial says:

her Composer also had a great Zerbinetta, I would’ve liked seeing that in the house.

          • thả diều says:

i was in Munich that summer too but wrong dates! argh! was also w/ Diana Damrau..

          • dehggial says:

I’ll see DD in pretty much anything. She’s always so much fun!

          • thả diều says:

oh ja, i was in Munich last summer when she performed too, Lucia.., sold out! but i partially blame pretty boy Breslik (i think he was also in it..) Perhaps in your spare time ( 🙂 ) you could browse that opernhaus for next season?

          • dehggial says:

if you want to see her in Lucia she will sing it here in April (7-25) next year. After which Kurzak takes over (4 shows). Sounds like good times!

and sure thing about Munich, I am in my spare time right now 😀

          • thả diều says:

oh, that’s overlapping with A.Hallenberg’s recitals, melikes! 🙂

          • dehggial says:

indeed! that seems to always be the most interesting period of the year 😉

          • thả diều says:

any excuse we can find to visit the cats? 😉

          • dehggial says:

Ok, here’s the rundown month by month (I didn’t include Wagner, Tosca, Carmen and things like that):

JAN: first week – Fledermaus with Sidram as Orlofsky then Arabella (AH), Don Giovanni, Carmelites

            FEB: some of the above

MARCH: Ballo in maschera (AH), Norma (Carmen Giannatassio)

APRIL: Boris Godunov, Entfuhrung aus dem Serail and Lucrezia Borgia (Gruberova still at it!)

            MAY: Makropulos Case

JUNE: Figaro in which Erraught is singing Susanna! Weeeeeird – or not?!

JULY festival time – looks like the best time: recitals by DR and DD, Rosenkavalier with your 2 ladies, Ballo, Borgia, Les Indes Galantes, Mefistofele, Don Giovanni, La Juive (only because it’s not that often done)… too many to name!

          • thả diều says:

just done accepting my new job… now back to finding money to fund my own job 😀

          • dehggial says:

when do you start the new job?

          • thả diều says:

next year. but it has been a race against time given we wanted these proposals to already be done by admin there.. nervous time still as many more layers of paperworks still needed, but i happy. they have great fish tacos there 😀

          • dehggial says:

fish makes it all better 😉

          • thả diều says:

a haha, i had the most funny dream, we, yes, us! were at a gruberova opera in munich! and she caught you writing some notes while she was singing, so snatched it to read out loud to audience, can’t remember all the questions, but apparently you had category boxes on her “typical” roles and were checking them off as well as some comment on her voice, she was not too amused and went on a rant, à la “how dare you” 😀 😀

          • dehggial says:

ok, I read this at work and it just made my day. I was laughing so hard people started asking me if I was all right 😀 that thing about notes and roles is definitely something I would do! haha. Maybe it’s a sign we should see her 😉 also being singled out for some kind of rudeness during a show is one of my fears… but imagine writing the report on that show: and then Grubi started lecturing me in the middle of an aria.

          • thả diều says:

            😉
my dreams are getting quite creative these days, to make up for the technical part while awake. Did i mention i was once offer a grubi button?

          • dehggial says:

I remember about the Grubi button! hehe. It could’ve come in handy in the dream, when she started going off at me, I could’ve just held it up to appease her!

          • dehggial says:

23 march (ferrandini), 30 april (scarlatti, handel and vivaldi), 23 may (gluck and mozart. Mozart?!). All over the shop!

          • thả diều says:

WOW! that’s really cool… so not sandwiching as i was asking in my ambitious response just now.. but i’d *lllllove* to hear 2nd and 3rd ones!! i mean would love 2nd too but then that’s a bit much! argh!

          • dehggial says:

            Trionfo is in Italy then?

          • thả diều says:

ja, la scala, though when we saw her in the green room she also mentioned aix en provence

          • dehggial says:

I’m all for mezzo Faust (less tenors = ok. Earlier I was trying to watch Les Huguenots and couldn’t stand the bleating).

          • thả diều says:

but you know, as far as tenor is concern, this Faust is my fav for tenor music, i guess it’s in the music.. and clearly i don’t know what i’m missing given i’ve never heard a mezzo (vk) does it…

          • dehggial says:

mezzo >>>>> tenor in all cases 😉 although some tenor parts are nice, you’re right. Maybe if it’s a rubbish mezzo and a very good tenor I’ll think differently…

          • thả diều says:

i of course love the beat-down battle Romeo-Tebaldo…

          • dehggial says:

            Tebaldo is a good part and the duet = ❤ ❤ ❤

  2. Eyesometric says:

Hey Dr T – how do you get such a long conversation without the boxes getting smaller and smaller? Congratulations on the job 🙂

    • thả diều says:

thanks Eyes 🙂 how have you been? i miss our conversations sometimes 🙂
oh, i limit the reply to only 3 level. The way it works then, at least, for us with wordpress, is we hit the “reply” within the notification rather than replying on the post itself, thus you’re sure to reply to the comment you want. But if you come in from outside and want to reply to 1 particular comment it’s more difficult as your reply would simply end up at the bottom of the thread.
