midweek music

greetings from the office (melancholi-ly trying to stay awake working..), this song is indeed quite lovely. (at least A.Hepburn got to sing it right? not dubbed like in my fair lady?)

Mancini apparently wrote the song especially for Hepburn and rated her performance above all others. Not dubbed.

oh thanks Eyes, yes i remeber her sitting by the window with the bandana ribbon on head plucking the small guitar .the bit about my fair lady is quite annoying, first that they would skip J.Andrews b/c of the look (she’s beautiful!!) then deceivedfully dubbed it

Sad that Andrews was good enough for the stage production but not the film. There’s an interesting piece on Marni Nixon who did so much dubbing in that era – http://www.huffingtonpost.com/steve-schonberg/marni-nixon-the-voice-of-_b_6976634.html

thanks Eyes, a very interesting read! i didn’t know D.Kerr was dubbed as well in ‘the king and I’.
      Quite insightful:
“…I think it was because I got not only the fabric of the way she sounded when she sang. I had to change my voice a little. But, I had knowledge of her acting process.” I should listen to some more tracks today of her singing!
