  1. Yay! Thanks for the link, I didn’t know it was STAGED this time.
Also: contralto in chainmail – does Agathe know about this? 😉

    1. squealing..
      and packing..

  2. I’m really going to have fun bitching about the costumes in this. Atrocious is not even in the same ballpark. It’s like a Literal met PC Police and they fell madly in love.

    1. something like that. but hey, all of V.Cangemi’s and L.Cirillo’s troupe are female! and they’ll be in formation in *very short* fighting scene!

      1. they should be female; in fact everybody in every Vivaldi piece should be – historically informed speaking 😉

        1. (now approaching your stop 🙂 )

  3. not on Dario, but since you said you were missing Rice, here is one for you, Dr. T:

    1. oh where is that? greetings from london! (freshly just clear custom in record time and still in transit…)

      1. in LONDON (but yesterday, I believe? Live show interview?)

        1. oofs, my planning skill needs improvement! Dehggi might have mentioned this last year but i didnt know c rice then…

          1. thank you, stray!
I will have to listen to this right away – three people singing in mezzo range to whom I would also simply listen as they talk intelligently about complex things 🙂

          2. The benefits of a) influenza and b) Iestyn Davies’ habit of tweeting every instance where a venue misspells his name on a poster or a pass are a) lots of time and b) you always know where Iestyn Davies is and often with whom, because his name gets misspelled surprisingly often. If that makes any sense LOL…

          3. stray, please get your capturing ready.. oh wait, you’re also where i’ll be! 🙂 , well it’s broadcasting live.. let’s hope JDD has enough fans who know how to record:

          4. I may not be where you will be if I can’t shake this virus by then. And it’s Medici, so I think we’re good whatever happens.

          5. how are you holding up Stray? will you make it to the hall? am already in town, heavily coated with pollen, but will be ready! if you’re on the road let’s stay with texting?

          6. I am undecided. Still coughing a lot. Will see how things are in the morning and txt you an update.

    2. ps if a certain soprano would make an anouncement for countess a few more months in advance i could have contemplated! given i would be in a country just next door

      1. *LE SIGH*
(especially since said soprano gives a hand to arts support in less privileged areas this way, would have been worthwhile to chip in (the clip sure looked as if she was enjoying her homecoming queen gig 😉 )

        1. havent had chance yet to look at clip coz i have been on the road since 17hr ago.. but i would reallly love to hear her as the contessa

          1. that makes two of us 🙂

          2. this one, or anything not later than Rossini…!

      2. PS: sadly, no reason to trek to Antwerp next season, at least not for our certain soprano. (ah well, it if has to be Naples… at least I could go tie shopping!)

  4. I saw this performance! The abundance of female voices was absolutely stunning. First time I heard Mingardo, she’s great! here is my review:

L’incoronazione di Dario – Teatro Regio (Torino)

Who is the soprano you guys are talking about? 🙂

  5. thanks, yeah we were already reading your review this morning while in transit. we are now taking a walk into the city to explore a bit and are quite excited about tomorrow. too bad we didnt coincide, it would have been great fun!
which soprano are you referring to in your question? greetings from Turin!

    1. Like what Anik said here:
PS: sadly, no reason to trek to Antwerp next season, at least not for our certain soprano. (ah well, it if has to be Naples… at least I could go tie shopping!)

I was wondering who the “certain soprano” was, but it’s not important of course. Have loads of fun in Turin!! And make sure you post your impressions!

      1. And all the rest of us get lucky because we’re getting two reviews – nearly snorted my coffee over my keyboard at your description of the sister relationship, Giulia.

(“certain soprano”: Myrtò Papatanasiu. thadieu and I may, in the last year, have talked a wee bit much about her performances and scenic approaches, just ask poor dehggi)

        1. 🙂
(i was just talking to Dehggi during the trip about that.. how i first showed up at her place 1 year ago with about 20 tabs opened.. all of your Mitridate posts.. then moving on to limegreen…)
